Kids Valentine’s Bookshelf Makeover

I gave my kid’s bookshelf a little love makeover for Feb.

I’ve recently become obsessed with all the cute Valentine’s Day Bookshelves popping up all over my social media feeds. I just had to attempt a little love makeover for my kids bookshelf.

This bookshelf is a bit of a feature in our playroom passage. Yip, I turned our passage into a playroom! You can check out that diy here. Giving it a little makeover has really put us all in the mood for some love…and chocolate!

This is what the bookshelf looked like before

We didn’t have a lot of love themed books, so I decided to get out all the red and white books I could find instead. This is such a great way to get the look without going out and buying new books. Use what you have and pick a colour to work with while you build your themed book collection.

I decided to dress up the shelves with some garlands and bunting to create that Valentines day feel.

I had this pretty Valentine’s day bunting from Fancy Parties, which immediately created the look I was going for. I added their cherry foil balloon above the shelves as well.

I got out my Cricut Maker 3 to make a few garlands. First I made a XOXO garland, complete with candy heats. You can check out the design on Cricut Design Space here. I cut the design from cardstock and red Cricut Smart Paper. It was my first time working with smart paper and I am in love. It has a sticky back so their was no need for glue and it made this project so easy and quick to do. I used the Cricut Pen to draw little sayings on the hearts. I added holes to the pieces (it’s on the deign ) so they can be easily strung up.

I also made a cherry garland using the print and cut feature on my Cricut Maker 3. You can check out this project on Cricut Design space here

A few simple touches and we’ve got a pretty bookshelf for the month of love. I’m also loving the less is more look of these shelves. They were way too busy before. It’s so much easier for Xav to see her books this way. I think I may have to change things up like this until I’ve gone through the whole rainbow and all the holidays!
